Infertility and Its Treatment

Some of genital diseases can make infertility to man and woman. Approximately ten to fifteen of every one hundred couples try to have a baby without success. Usually it's impossible to predict whether a given couples will have difficulty archieving pregnancy; however, infertility often increases with age, especially with the mother's age, a factor to consider in family planning.

There are many causes of infertility, and a number of tests and procedures must be carried out by a physician before all possible causes have been identified and corrected. Both man and the woman must be involved in the process, and the procedures often take many months - even a year or more. Couples who start an infertility study should be prepared to go through the entire program.

In 1983, one study reported that one-third of all childless couples at a major infertility clinic were suffering from a common bacterial infection identified as T. mycoplasma, and that when the infection was treated with drugs, 60 percent of these couples become fertile. Researchers continued to debate these findings possibly, the bacterium might be only one of a number of risk factors.
